Get Him to the Greek: Mayhem the Fun Way

Judd Apatow produced comedies always have a tinge of seriousness to them. The characters and their development always come first, and no matter how crazy things get, there is always a moment or two when things get "real". In this case, Get Him to the Greek is an incredibly fun ride, but parts near the end felt a little too preachy.
The entire movie is about partying hard and the mayhem that follows when no one cares about the consequences. Some type of anti-drug message is expected with any such film, but this time it is too melodramatic. It was brave for the movie to make "rock bottom" feel depressing, and although it was executed skillfully, it really didn't match the rest of the movie.
The cast is excellent and quite surprising. Brand brings a lot of sympathy to his character, likely influenced by his real world experiences with drugs, and Hill plays the everyman perfectly. P. Diddy is the real shocker for this one though, stealing most of his scenes and nailing all of his deliveries with expert timing.
Get Him to the Greek is a really fun movie, and it fits in nicely with other Apatow productions. The party scenes have an electricity to them that make the experience a great roller-coaster, but parts near the end harsh the created buzz. These concerns are only minor at best however, and if you're a fan of Hill or Brand you shouldn't be disappointed.
