I Went To Film School - Reviews and Such

Gort going nano was a no, no

December 16th 2008 03:59
Gort was totally mishandled in this remake. I loved that he was 18 or so feet tall, but making him dissolve into itty bitty nanobugs reminded me of "worm guy" in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Guys, guys...he's an intergalactic cop for chrissakes. Let him be a cop and give him more to do that just melt stuff. It was cool when his Cylon eye followed the government agent as he paced back and forth. But then, they sort of forgot about Gort and went to Keanu. So what happened? Did he reassemble in time to get back to the orb? And while we're on the subject of assembling stuff, those pesky little nanobugs really bugged me. Been there, done that in Star Trek and half a dozen other sci-fi flicks, even the book Prey, which wasn't that great.

More to come on this remake...
