I Think I Love My Wife is not a good movie. Being written by two of the best stand-up comedians on the planet (Chris Rock & Louis C.K.), one expects the occasional funny moment or witty observation. There might be one or two, but the characters are so poorly written that nothing could really save this train wreck.
The main think lacking from I Think I Love My Wife is any proper motivation. The characters make choices for no logical reasons, and what little development there is feels inconsistent and drawn out. Things happen to keep the story moving, not because it makes sense in context, and the plot is far too thin to get away with that type of nonsense.
The film is supposed to be about Chris Rock's character struggling with the temptation to cheat on his wife, but it's not even obvious who we're supposed to root for. The wife is entirely unsympathetic, the temptress is annoyingly immature, and our protagonist does nothing but whine and put his job in jeopardy.
What the film boils down to is a sloppy love triangle, featuring three people who the audience doesn't care about because there is little about them to even like. The funny parts don't even match the tone of the rest of the movie, and the rest is just a pile of mediocre storytelling. If you're interested, you're probably just better off watching a Chris Rock HBO special. At least there, the jokes have proper timing.
