The Day the Earth Stood Still

This is where you come to find out what movies you really want to see this weekend. Hey, it's not cheap going to the show these days, so you've got to make those show dollars count. I love good movies and am particularly fond of recounting great movie moments--like "I'm having an old friend for dinner" in Silence of the Lambs or "Leave the gun, take the cannoli" in Godfather.
I'm going to see The Day the Earth Stood Still today and will let you know whether it's worth the money. As you may recall, the original 1951 version was all about saving the people of Earth from each other; this time, Klaatu wants to save the Earth but the hell with mankind. Seems we've been pissing on the planet and eating yellow snow for far too long. The film's effects look good and Gort is now a mean looking 18-foot badass.
Several months back, I interviewed Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly about the film and they had some pretty interesting things to say. But more of that in later blogs when I compare the film to their comments about it.
Until then, stay tuned...
